Expatriate life has been an insightful and wonderful experience for my wife and our two young children, as we moved to from Germany to Gastonia, North Carolina in May 2016 after I took on the position of Director of Post-Merger Activities. The move has given my family an amazing perspective into American life and a clear view into the giving culture at our MANN+HUMMEL Filtration Technology global locations.  The charitable nature of MANN+HUMMEL Filtration Technology is another strong indication of what a perfect fit the merger is for our teams. There is a shared passion for community service that has grown even stronger since the merger with MANN+HUMMEL… we believe we become stronger when our communities are their strongest.

The WIX team in Gastonia is a perfect example – giving is a way of life here! The giving spirit is led by the WIX management team, and the team contributes to various causes throughout the year to support our local communities. The competitive nature of Keith Wilson (MANN+HUMMEL Filtration Technology President) and Manfred Wolf (MANN+HUMMEL Filtration Technology Chairman) has stepped up the fundraising efforts. In October, Manfred bet Keith that he couldn’t run a mile in under eight minutes. Keith accepted the challenge, running a 6:35 minute mile in the pouring rain of an oncoming hurricane! The WIX team members could enter the track and watch the spectacle by making a donation to a local charity. Soon, Manfred and Keith will compete in a ping-pong challenge, which I’m sure will prove entertaining for the crowd.

MANN+HUMMEL Filtration Technology is strongly committed to its local communities and gives back whenever it can. Just a few fundraising efforts at WIX in Gastonia include a fundraising Food Truck, Christmas donation campaigns, Relay for Life, “Back to school” donations, and “Jeans Fridays” for $1.00 per week.

Our commitment doesn’t end there. For years, we have supported the Gaston County Boys & Girls Club through a dance competition called “Dancing for Future Stars.” This dance competition raises money for disadvantaged children in the Gastonia area, providing afterschool and summer programs to help over 1,500 children. This year, I’m excited to represent MANN+HUMMEL Filtration Technology and will take to the dancefloor to raise funds for a good cause. I’ve committed to practicing twice per week, learning ballroom dancing to get ready to compete on March 18, 2017. It has been a long time since my last dance, so it’s certainly a challenge – for my professional partner too!

My goal is to raise $100,000, and I need the help of our great communities to achieve this milestone!  To contribute and support this great cause, click on my support page “Ralph Dances for Future Stars” and complete the donation form.  Your contribution will go a long way toward helping these children.  Follow my dance training and progress on Facebook at “Ralph Mueller – Dancing for Future Stars.”  Let’s prove that MANN+HUMMEL’s giving spirit is stronger than ever before!
