Though my colleague Tobias Wörner has only just reported on the successful closing event for our 2016 Open Innovation Challenge, we are already kicking off the next round! We invite you to join us in discovering new innovations and helping to shape the future of digitalisation and topics such as the IoT and Industry 4.0. Are you ready to connect the world and make it an even smarter place?

Digitalisation is the topic on everyone’s lips and we are still acclimatising to the things being developed and experienced in this field. What is abundantly clear, however, is that these changes are influencing our lives in a vast array of areas – including the workplace – and are opening up new possibilities. Current market demands and trends are driving the development of more and more digital and intelligent products and services, with collaboration between technology providers and start-ups playing an invaluable role in achieving success for all involved. By holding the Open Innovation Challenge 2017, we hope to promote open exchange with a view to developing innovative approaches. Our call for entries runs from the start of April through to 19/06/2017 and is, as last year, public. In short: anyone can get involved!

Virtual reality replaces written invitation

This year, we have done away with a long introductory text, instead opting for the latest in digitalisation: we will be setting out the key information regarding the Open Innovation Challenge in virtual reality! Download our free app now and join us in the foyer of the technology center, where you can experience the open innovation process at first hand.

On five virtual screens, our experts discuss topics such as the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 and the first digital MANN + HUMMEL solution, forming the framework for the question we pose: have you already set your targets and begun with preparations for future growth in a digital world? Then share your experiences and/or ideas with us by participating in our Open Innovation Challenge 2017: “Intelligently connected – ready – set – go!”

More information and a link to download the app can be found on our website.
