MANN+HUMMEL Nová Ves’ (Czech Republic) cooperation with secondary schools in the area is distinctive in its interactive and motivational character. Students from the local area take part in visits, workshops, various lectures, diploma projects and internships. Such insights help students to get a taste of everyday working life and gain experience of a possible career. Visits also show the students that MANN+HUMMEL Czech Republic are not only looking for candidates with technical specialisms, but need support and other staff in, for example, the Accounting or HR Departments. Not every person wants to be a technical specialist and as a company, we also consider the graduates of the Business Academy and Hotel School Třebíč, for their economic and business knowledge as well as their linguistic skills.
Feedback is usually positive; students find this sort of interaction very beneficial and motivating. It helps them extend their horizons, leading them to think about which subjects to focus on to help them kick-start their career.
Working with higher education
MANN+HUMMEL Czech Republic also works closely with higher and further education. Earlier on this year, our R&D Manager gave an expert lecture to more than 40 second grade students at the Technical Secondary School in Třebíč. He introduced them to the scope of work of R&D department and demonstrated MANN+HUMMEL products and their functions. As a bit of fun at the end, he also prepared some quiz questions for students and small presents as a reward for the correct answers. Overall, the students were highly appreciative. Our cooperation with universities is based predominantly on expert knowledge, especially in the technical sphere. Every semester, experts from the R&D department hold a lecture for students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Technology in Brno. Thanks to these lectures, students can learn something beyond traditional teaching.
Finance Minister is impressed by cooperation and innovation
The Minister of Finance of the Czech Republic, Mr Andrej Babiš, made an official visit to MANN+HUMMEL Nová Ves in June 2016. Our factory was the perfect backdrop to discuss the Czech labour market and its connection to the Czech educational system. Mr Babiš appreciated our cooperation with the secondary schools and universities. He particularly highlighted student internships at MANN+HUMMEL, our lectures at schools and the possibility to compose graduation thesis and school projects. The Minister also spent some time visiting and learning more about the production facility and test laboratory – just like pupils and students do on their visits. He was able to observe the production of fuel filters destined for the most respected automotive companies in Germany. In the test laboratory, high skilled technicians demonstrated a 3D scanner and test bench to the Minister.
The visit was a great success, particularly as it was confirmation that MANN+HUMMEL Nová Ves is on the right track with our cooperation.
