The eye-catching green and yellow of our MANN-FILTER product brand seem to crop up in all sorts of places – it certainly is a distinctive combination! And this was also the case in 2016, with this member of the MANN+HUMMEL family flying its colours in a number of different places.
In September last year, the Automechanika trade fair in Frankfurt am Main once again opened its doors for five extraordinary days, inviting the ‘who’s who’ of the international automotive industry. MANN-FILTER was also in attendance, resplendent in its striking signature colours. Under the motto ‘Welcome to Perfection’ and ‘Perfect service has a home’, the employees communicated our high-quality brand value proposition in their own unique way. But it wasn’t just the brand’s appearance that made a difference here, but also that of the employees. With 15 meetings a day, each lasting 30 minutes, the atmosphere was very much like a speed dating event – everyone had to be at their best to win over existing and new customers with their products.
However, it wasn’t just our colleagues who made an impression with their memorable trade fair appearance last year: MANN-FILTER also had resounding success in the area of social responsibility, with a huge conversion campaign impressing customers and petrolheads alike, and even UNICEF. You didn’t hear about it? Well, together with Jo Scholz and Lina van de Mars, our product brand converted a tractor (Lindner 1700 A) into a ‘party truck with some umph’. A high-spec DJ console, extra large LCD screen, XXL barbecue, fridges and an exclusive lighting system were installed, giving the commercial vehicle a real lounge feel. And, best of all, it was all for a good cause! This unique vehicle was auctioned off in July with the winning bid coming in at EUR 18,999. This figure was then rounded up to EUR 20,000 and donated to UNICEF.
A new member of the MANN+HUMMEL family
Returning to the speed dating theme again – this time at company level – MANN+HUMMEL and the Wix Filtron group first began serenading each other in 2015, with things then becoming rather serious the same year. The subsequent acquisition took place in May 2016 and since that date we have been glad to have another strong team member on board.
There were lots of reasons behind the takeover of this company, one of these, of course, being the values we share. The employees of MANN+HUMMEL Filtration Technology (as the corporate group is now known) demonstrate the added value that teamwork brings in a number of respects. Not only do the colleagues work together, they also count on shared success in their spare time.
Tommy Buckman talked about one example of this – a fantastic fund-raising campaign for the MS Society of the Carolinas. This saw a number of Wix colleagues coming together in New Bern last autumn and setting off on a cycle ride. The team rode up to 120 km a day for MS sufferers, raising an impressive donation amount of 1.9 million dollars. A great feeling for all the participants, who were rewarded with good food, beer and great music at the end of their journey. And, as if that wasn’t enough, the group also won the prize for the best novice team! We get the impression that sport generally plays a very important role for our colleagues in the USA. Whether it’s cycling, going to the gym or dancing … yes, you read that right, they also love to dance! Ralph Müller, who never shies away from a challenge, told us all about his plans to take part in the dance competition ‘Dancing for Future Stars’ for the youth organisation ‘Gaston County Boys & Girls Club’ this year. He is also hoping this endeavour will help him to collect plenty of donations to support disadvantaged children in the Gastonia area. The money will be used to fund free-time activities after school and in the summer holidays. The target figure is 100,000 dollars and, with your help, even this milestone may not be too far away.
The path we have charted is intended to lead us to our overall goal of ‘Leadership in Filtration’. We are constantly accompanied on this journey by our values such as focus, integrity, leadership, teamwork, top performance and respect. It is always fascinating to see how these aspects bring colleagues together across continents, national borders and time zones. This helps keep us on course for success!
