As a Senior HR Manager at MANN+HUMMEL INDIA, I work at both MANN+HUMMEL locations – Bangalore and Tumkur. I would like to tell you about a project that was completed last year to improve the hygiene conditions of a nearby school.

In 2014, the Tumkur plant received two awards from the MANN+HUMMEL Corporate: one for achieving zero customer complaints in quality and the other for crossing 1 million hours without an accident in the safety category.  At the same time, MANN+HUMMEL INDIA identified and recognized the need to support the nearby village school as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. I am very proud to say that the Staff & operators of the plant decided to use the prize money from the awards to build two washrooms at the Government Higher Primary School in Tumkur District.

The school has around 120 students between 6 and 13 years of age.  The old washrooms were unhygienic and very basic. The children did not use them at all. In fact, they were using open ground for day to day requirements in their village. Something needed to be done.  MANN+HUMMEL INDIA built two washrooms-one for girls and one for boys-at the premises of the school. Our company’s Managing Director Mr. Pradeep Singh Randhawa handed over the keys the Headmistress of Government Higher Primary School on 14 November 2014.  As well as being part of our own CSR initiative, the project contributes to the nation’s Clean India Campaign. It has helped the school to create a good hygienic environment.  It is worth mentioning again that all the Staff & operators willingly supported with their prize money for a good cause like this.
