Within MANN+HUMMEL’s game plan for success is an often-unnamed, but valuable, player: Our suppliers. We rely on our suppliers to help us maintain our high standard of excellence. As such, they will be an integral part of our plan as we begin our post-merger activities with MANN+HUMMEL Filtration Technology, or as we call it internally, Wix-Filtron.

As Director of Purchasing for post merger activities with Wix-Filtron, I have been charged with analyzing the current purchasing processes and supplier partners of Wix-Filtron and MANN+HUMMEL to identify synergy savings and efficiency improvement opportunities. These efforts will be coordinated and aligned through global material group teams, consisting of members from both companies, and will cover both direct material such as steel, media, rubber, and indirect material/services, such as machinery, tooling, IT, and freight.

My job is to make sure we are engaging with strategically aligned suppliers that provide high quality products and services, 100 percent on time, at a market competitive value. Purchasing synergies are an obvious merger benefit for MANN+HUMMEL and Wix-Filtron. But our merger benefits our suppliers, too. They will be given the chance to grow with a company that is looking toward the future. And our expanding global presence will give our suppliers exposure to larger markets than they have seen in the past.

In all we do, our goal is customer satisfaction. With our strategic approach to purchasing, our customers will have in MANN+HUMMEL a more advanced supplier who is using best practices to better meet the needs of the market; they will benefit from optimized efficiencies in the utilization of capital equipment, best practices for technology, and economies of scale.

Over the next year, we will evaluate the tools both companies have in place for purchasing and will engage with our individual suppliers – globally and locally – for our mutual benefit, providing them every opportunity to succeed, and assuring us the excellence we require.
