Enjoying your work – in my opinion, this means more than enjoying carrying out functions. To feel good at work, the surroundings must also be right. After all, you spend many hours of the day there.
Our new production hall in Uhersky Brod in the south east of the Czech Republic is very spacious, and this makes work more pleasant for us. The staffs were therefore very pleased with their new workplace at the official opening of our new production hall on
28th August 2014.
The official opening was attended not only by Chairman of the Supervisory Board Thomas Fischer, Shareholders’ Representative Dr. Gerhard Turner, President & CEO Alfred Weber and many other representatives from the MANN+HUMMEL world, but also by the local media and Jan Hrdy, Deputy Mayor of Uhersky Brod, a town with a population of 17,000.
A production hall on firm ground
I was personally involved from the start, because I carried out the first environmental studies for the building. For this reason, I felt very close to the project and eagerly anticipated the move and opening. Another thing that will certainly stick in my mind is the interesting archaeological find unearthed during initial excavations – a grave, as well as the remains of a longhouse and a pit house, including a millstone – which could be up to 5,700 years old.
Just how swiftly time passed and how quickly the hall was actually finished not only impressed me, but also my colleagues here in Uhersky Brod.
The joyful mood was hardly surprising. Firstly, the many relocations in recent months had been time-consuming. Moving machinery was particularly laborious. Most of the equipment was extremely valuable, and up to two months were required for dismantling and subsequent correct reconstruction. Secondly, the premises now provided a really pleasant working environment.
Safety first – Quality always
From 28th August 2014, production staff have had the facilities to organise their work even better and implement top-quality production processes – something our customers are already accustomed to. Of course, MANN+HUMMEL also places a great deal of value on the safety standards for our employees. It’s really all focused on the motto ‘Safety first – Quality always’.
The administration building has also been modernised. There are pleasant rest areas where people can relax, as well as a new canteen. This of course makes us feel even more comfortable on site.
Significant progress also happens in logistics: materials and finished products will in future be transported through a plant railway, thus simplifying production processes at the plant. We are sure that we have achieved our objective with the new building: To improve the working atmosphere of our employees, and thus also the quality of our products and services – constantly reflecting our FILTER values.
