MANN+HUMMEL employees, along with their families, took part in the Eighth Annual Raleigh City of Oaks Marathon. As well as the marathon race, there were also half-marathon and 10k runs. This event is one that employees have been looking forward to since the previous kick-off.
The race course showcased many of the focal points of the city including Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, the State Capitol, Glenwood South restaurant district, Meredith College, NC State University Campus and the Bell Tower. The course exposed the diversity of the Raleigh Landscape and encompassed city and wooded scenes. The run route included a lot of gradual inclines, which made for a challenging yet fun and gratifying course.
Despite the early morning chill, the event brought an impressive 4,791 runners together along with countless spectators who paved the streets to cheer on the participants, which gave them an extra boost of energy. As always, the run raised money for Foundations – this year’s event collected for the Rex Healthcare Foundation and the YMCA “We Build People” program.
This year, Team Purolator was comprised of roughly 20 employees, friends and family members of MANN+HUMMEL. Participants proudly touted Purolator attire to not only stand out as being ‘ONE TEAM’ but to also increase brand awareness and brand recognition.
Even Management board members and leadership executives, as well as our chairman of the supervisory board, travelled from Germany to Raleigh again this year to take part in the run. A team dinner took place the night before the race in an Italian Bar and Grill restaurant, which made for great company, conversation and fellowship – not to mention a great way to fuel-up prior to race day.
We hold true to our core mission and values. Participating in races like this one strengthens the entire team dynamic. Community Involvement and Teamwork is very important to us wherever we do business. Each year, this race brings team members from all over the world together to accomplish one goal – to cross the finish line. The teamwork began as MANN+HUMMEL employees participating in the 10K cheered on their fellow team members at the start of the Half Marathon race. Following the 10K race, runners stuck around to cheer on others team members crossing the finish line before heading over to cheer on their team members as they finished the Half Marathon. Throughout the entire morning there was a strong feeling of camaraderie and unity amongst the MANN+HUMMEL participants.
As always the run is a great team building and healthy living event; we are already looking forward to continuing our tradition this year and for many years to come.
